What Does It Mean to Be Unstoppable?

For me, it means in spite of disappointments in life or challenges like physical or even medical, I find a way to to exercise, I find a way to pursue my dreams. It started as a little girl I wanted to be either a major league baseball player or a Broadway singer. I ended up going into radio, and then from radio I became a professional opera singer. 😮 Seriously I got to sing with San Diego Opera starting at age 47.  I created a website/online magazine at the time called Everyday Opera which featured opera food, wine, and travel, and I connected with people all over the world! I’m always pursuing new creative ventures. Some people decide on the one thing they’re going to do and they never stop, but I’m like "I gave that a good 10 years" and then I was ready to create something new! I also started a Facebook page called Katie Luther and I had a play and an opera written for me about her and that is still going strong. Thanks to Rebecca Degarmeaux who posts history there every day and there are followers from all over the world who are incredibly engaged.

But then I got hooked on martial arts. I really put my heart into it and discovered it really drew out my childhood passion for sports! That’s why I decided to create Unstoppable Podcast to encourage others to pursue their dreams and to share inspiring stories of women in sports. I’m also going to be doing a live YouTube channel called Unstoppable Stories where I talk to people from all walks of life, men and women and find out what drives them and makes them unstoppable! I hope you’ll join me for both. One is pre-recorded and produced really well by my friend Terry McIntosh. But I also really love doing live streaming and want to expand on the stories!

Some people don’t quite understand why I do so many different things. But for me, it’s simple—I’m driven by the love of the creative process. It’s how I think, how I operate.

I look at it the way an artist might: a painter doesn’t stop after just one painting, and a music artist doesn’t finish one album and quit. Each new project is its own adventure, its own chance to grow and explore. That’s how I feel about all the creative ventures I’ve pursued over the years—from radio to opera to martial arts to building Unstoppable.

I know not everyone sees it this way, and that’s okay. But if you know me, you understand—it’s just who I am. 😊
